A photograph from a few months back - 2600 mile road trip from Maine to Utah.

Somewhere between Iowa and Nebraska, we drove into the most frightening and at the same time most beautiful storm I have ever witnessed. At first, the mist, then rain, then a downpour, and then - like Niagara falls pouring out of the sky. Windshield wipers were useless - there was only one thing to do - pull over. Even though it was raiining like hell, there was this amazing yellow/green light coming from EVERYWHERE. Everything seemed to glow - rolling hills, meadows, trees all around us - the SKY! Lightning danced across the fields and between the trees only seconds apart. There were thunder EXPLOSIONS in the yellow sky that seemed to hang just right above us. . . . Everything was misty and foggy yet looked so crisp and fresh. It made you want to INHALE and TOUCH it all...Made you want to stand in the rain and get drenched to your bones, JUST so that you could stand in the middle of the majesty of that LIGHT. . .but the rain was beating down too hard. The highway looked like a river - light bouncing off of everything. I wish I had the words to describe what it looked/felt like. Wow.

The photo was taken through the windshield with windshield wipers going full-speed just as we were passing the worst part. . . The yellows in the photo are much more orange than the actual storm. .. .. Many other attempted photos did not turn out - windshiedl wipers, rain punding on the windows, etc.
